Spoilers Ahead:
In New Girl's return, we get the follow up to "Sister". It was a solid episode tonight.
The Basics:
Jess doesn't want Abby to live with her in the loft, so she attempts to find her a new place. In the meantime, Nick tries to keep Abby busy and Winston hits rock bottom.
The Analysis:
I really enjoy Abby's character. I think she brought a jolt this show needed. Based on the last episode, I can completely understand why Jess doesn't want Abby to live with her. So when she tries to keep Abby busy with Nick, problems arise. The problem is that Nick can't keep Jess' secret and ends up telling Abby what's going on. He calls in Schmidt to settle her down, and they end up hooking up. I feel this is only to get back at Jess. Some hilarity ensues from this hook-up. I loved the dinner scene, especially Nick's script. However, I'm not sold on Abby and Schmidt. That is because there were many hints at Abby and Winston and I think that could be good for both characters. Now for Winston. He has hit rock bottom. He didn't even get into the police academy. At this point I am just tired of Winston. He hasn't added anything to the story and it is said to see him wind up in the same group as Cece. It just seems like the writers are having a hard time juggling all the characters and giving them satisfying arcs.
The Takeaways:
Everything with Abby was gold this week. Most everything else fell flat. Maybe the writers will actually give Winston something to do in the next few episodes, seeing as he has nowhere to go except up.
