Arrow has been enjoying a pretty decent third season. Below is a trailer for a few upcoming episodes. Below that is a first look at the new Black Canary, minus Katie Cassidy wearing it (that is a stunt double). How do you feel about the new suit?

We finally have a release date for Agent Carter. Agent Carter will hit small screens January 6, 2015 @9/8c. The highly-anticipated "Marvel's Agent Carter," starring Hayley Atwell in the role she first brought to life in Marvel's "Captain America: The First Avenger," will premiere on ABC Tuesday, January 6 at 9:00 p.m. ET. Then, once "Marvel's Agent Carter" concludes its eight-episode run, "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." will return to ABC with all-new episodes Tuesday, March 3 at its regular time, 9:00 p.m. ET, to complete its action-packed second season! It is good that we finally have a release date now that promotion for the show has started to become more prominent. I am a bit iffy on the show now that I have seen some of it, because it looks a little too Agents of SHIELD-ish for me. But with a much more magnetic star and lessons learned from Agents, I am sure we will get a much better show. Below is a clip from the show. What do you think? Some Spoilers Ahead Arrow's third season got off to torrid start, with many great episodes. Last week's episode was a bit of a step back, and while this week was a marked improvement of last week's, it still wasn't one of the greats. Last week proved that Arrow needs someone like Felicity Smoak, so it is fitting that we get an episode focused on her this week. I wouldn't call this episode a huge origin story for Felicity Smoak. We all know that she is a great hacker, maybe one the best. This episode's flashbacks really focused on the hacker/anarchist side of Felicity. It was alright, but it was bit of a huge character swing. On the surface, she was very different. She looked different and she acted a little tougher and a bit more confident. It might've been a very surprising change for the character to be who she is today if done incorrectly, but the writers did a good job at keeping the core of her character intact. And props to Emily Rickards for being able to create a different Felicity, that still felt similar to the one we know. The story aspect of the flashback tied in well to the story we had in the current time. Felicity created a "supervirus" that her boyfriend wanted to use to illegally change the world. It was fairly standard and a bit disappointing for me. I was hoping to see more of the MIT student. I was actually expecting something of those sorts. The hacktivist story felt a bit disjointed to me. I just felt everything with her boyfriend happened really quickly, and I never really bought into their relationship, which ruined a lot for me. But the fact that it tied in perfectly with the main action of tonight is what saved it for me. This episode brought around the debut of Felicity's mom, Donna Smoak. Donna is a stark contrast to Felicity. Donna was a bit offputting at first, with how wild she was, but I came to enjoy her as the episode wore on. Her introduction was entertaining, especially with Ray Palmer visiting Felicity at her house and her mother's reaction to meeting Ray Palmer. I felt she was getting shafted a bit at the beginning, being relegated to watching baby Sara, though. I really enjoyed the brief falling out between Felicity and her mom. It seemingly came out of nowhere, because the writers only really started explaining Felicity's relationship with her mom this episode, but it gave Emily Rickards a really heavy scene to work with. It was a great chance for her to flex some dramatic acting muscles and she did a great job at it. Donna got some great moments after that. She really helped sell the scene between her and Felicity, and she really proved her worth in the final moments of the episode. The main story followed Team Arrow as they worked to fight Felicity's "supervirus" that she created in college. The story felt a bit light on the action, with Team Arrow briefly showing up to stop a riot. The episode then went with the twist that Felicity's boyfriend was behind the cyberattacks. It wasn't too surprising, but props to the writers for bringing him back in a believable way. I don't really understand what his feelings were towards Felicity after he trapped her, which bothered me. It seemed like he still loved her, but it was also pretty clear that he was ready to kill her. All this brought a cool action scene, though, with the Arrow taking down some sentry guns, and Roy getting a chance to show his archery skills (which btw, his scene was pretty roughly cut). But Felicity is the one who kicked the most butt. She saved her own life this week, with a pretty unexpected take down. I was happy for Felicity, though. In a quick rundown of other events this episode, Ollie getting frustrated with Thea was a bit tiresome. He should loosen up a bit, even though her money was blood money. Glad he thought better of holding his ground at the end, though. Diggle is once again given just about nothing to do. Laurel continued on her path to becoming Black Canary, but the scene with her dad felt like the most pointless scene in the show in a long time. Ray Palmer has become someone I want to see more of. He is an interesting character, who most definitely has some hidden agenda. I am also curious to see what Thea and Malcolm's agenda is. They are back in Starling City for a reason. And that end with Roy. Boy, I didn't expect that, and I don't believe he did it. It seems like he would've been caught or been a suspect by now. Overall, this week was solid. It wasn't one of the best episodes of Arrow, but it wasn't one of the worst. I am hoping we start seeing a couple more hints towards the upcoming conflict/crossover with The Flash in the a few weeks, and start getting an idea of where this season is heading. Right now, though, I am just curious to see what comes of Roy's dreams. Is he still feeling the effects of Mirakuru or is something else ailing him? Or is there something more devious at work? Hopefully we will get an answer next week.
Some Spoilers Ahead Gotham has had a rough time getting it going, but last week was a huge improvement. This week was an even bigger improvement. The show had an interesting story that pushed the over-arching story forward while also improving the character of Gordon. It also gave Penguin something else to do beside lurk and snitch. The episode had been interesting developments that will rear their heads even more throughout the season. The most notable aspect of this episode was the story. It focused on one story, but different characters perspective on this story. It then tied together at the end. In past weeks, we have seen about 3 different stories running with no connective tissue. Said stories don't really lead anywhere, either. This week focused on the repercussions of Gordon not killing Cobblepot. Many people were after him. This brought out the bada** side of Gordon that we haven't seen. I loved this version of Gordon. He actually had a reason to be tough as nails and a harda**. He was fighting for his life, while also standing by his morals. I can get on board with Gordon if he is like this every week. The story really worked to accelerate the gang war story that we seem to be building towards. Everyone's problem stemmed from Penguin being alive. Some wanted him and Gordon dead, while others felt they were best kept alive. This was the final straw for Mooney, as she decided it was time to quicken her plan to overthrow Falcone. We didn't really get to see that this week, but we did witness her camp lose a member. It will be interesting to see her volatile relationship with Falcone fracture. Penguin was again the focal point of the Maroni/Falcone issues this week. Falcone wanted Penguin back for more devious reasons, while I felt that Maroni wanted him just to spite Falcone. Either way, it brought some interesting moments. I liked the show of power from each side, with Penguin killing Maroni's second-in-command being a very crucial moment. I did enjoy Maroni and Falcone trying to work out their issues in person and it will be cool to see more moments like this in the show. Perhaps the biggest bit to come from Penguin and Falcone was that they were working together. Everything that we have seen Penguin do the past few weeks has been part of his plan and he is telling Falcone everything. It is an interesting relationship for sure, and one I am excited to see more of. Gordon meanwhile was fighting for his life. Falcone wanted a word with Gordon and he wasn't gonna get it by asking nicely. After Gordon swiftly took care of some threats to Barbara, he then encountered Victor Zsasz. Zsasz had a nice introduction and will be an interesting character to see in the future. Gordon's story did bring him some new allies in Montoya and Allen, which was great to see after watching them gunning for him the past few weeks. Gordon's adventures also brought him back to meet Bruce Wayne. He had a chat with Bruce that really showed how much Gordon already means to Bruce. It wasn't anything huge, but it was sweet. Gordon and Bullock decided to try and arrest Falcone and a few corrupt government officials this episode, too. That was a very entertaining piece, with Falcone really flexing his muscles. He had Barbara, but he wouldn't confirm that to Gordon. That meant if Gordon tried to arrest him, then Barbara is dead. If not, they are probably both dead. It was certainly a big moment for Jim, and his decision bought him some respect from Falcone. The whole exchange was pretty awesome. The one huge problem with this episode is Barbara Gordon. Her refusal to listen to Jim was super annoying. I know they are trying to write her as a headstrong women, but god dang what will it take for her to stay out of a dangerous situation? This has been a problem for her in past episodes, but it was particularly awful here. Hopefully they fix it, because at this point I am rooting against Barbara and hoping something happens to her. Overall this week was great. Rather than telling us about a gang war, it showed us the issues. It told a cohesive story that progressed the plot, gave us some character development, and built towards a big story. It was the best episode of Gotham, and for the first time I am excited to see next weeks episode. Hopefully they continue to improve and build off a positive this week.
