A while back it was reported that John Wesley Shipp, who played the Flash in the original 1990s series, is going to be playing Barry Allen's father. In the backdoor pilot on 'Arrow', it was revealed that Henry Allen is framed for the murder of Nora Allen. All of us know that isn't the case, but it will be interesting to see the mystery unravel onscreen. I assume this will be a through-line for the entire first season, or at least the first half. What do you think of this news?

Marvel has announced that Charlie Cox is taking over the role of the Man without Fear. I am not too familiar with Cox's work, but I hope he owns this role. The official announcement is below. Also it was announced that Drew Goddard has stepped down as showrunner to focus on the 'Sinister Six' film. Steven S. DeKnight has stepped into the showrunner role.
Well minus showing us the plot for the first episode, this looks like it is going to be pretty good. I think it will start off a but rough like 'Arrow', but eventually will find its footing (pun intended).
Well this looks pretty good and I do hope there is some crossover like this. Also around the middle of the video, there is an object behind the tree that looks kind of like the Batmobile. What do you think?
SPOILERS AHEAD This was a great season finale. It wrapped up some big stories, while leaving room for more. It wasn't the best, though. It lacked that emotional punch. But I'll get back to that.. This is a continuation of the past three episodes with the city being under seige by Slade's army. Only know Ollie and his team have the cure. So that gives them the upper hand. It was great to see Roy back from the little detour he has been on. I didn't like his story the past few episodes, so to see it finally cleared up was a relief. I also loved that it was basically all hands on deck with help from Roy (who finally suited up as Speedy/Red Arrow/Arsenal), the League of Assassins, and Sara. This leads to a big problem I had with this episode. At its core, it was a story about Oliver and Slade. So when it brought in all these characters, so of it felt under-cooked. Laurel was barely in it, as was Det. Lance. Thea, who did shot Malcolm (he had a kevlar vest), was also a dud. She is definitely changing, but I feel like she is changing back into season 1, butt-head Thea. It will be interesting to see what she does now that she is with Malcolm now. The League of Assassins were more of just a warm body in the fight. Nyssa Al Ghul was pretty wasted. I wish she had more. Isabel was killed pretty quickly. It was fairly obvious that she had an expiration date coming quickly, but I wish she had died in front of Slade again for more of an emotional punch. Sara was also shockingly minimal in this episode. She kicked some butt, but didn't add much to the story. There was a lot of good, though. I loved Felicity this episode. She had been a little off to me since the Barry Allen episodes, but she was great tonight. I have never been a huge fan of Olicity, but after seeing it tonight I was a bit sad it was all just a ruse. They just really clicked in a romantic sense, and I hope they delve into this relationship a little more next season. There was also the passing of the Black Canary jacket onto Laurel, which got me semi-excited. Onto the main focus of this episode. Slade vs Oliver. That was what we have been waiting for. Slade is always one step ahead, until Ollie gets the better of him. Which leads us to the epic fight. Oliver was put on even ground when Felicity injected Slade with the Mirakuru cure. This was a fantastic scene/fight. The best in the series actually. The fighting back on the island intertwined with the fight from now was a great idea, and it really showed Ollie making the same mistakes. Until he decides to take option B on what to do with Slade. He locks him up on Lian Yu, again, with no way out. Go Team Arrow! And Ollie getting picked up off the island by ARGUS is a bit of a surprise, and really surely help reinvigorate the flashbacks next season. This episode would've been one of the best if there was an emotional gut punch, but there really wasn't run. Sara didn't die (although I never believed that would happen... too obvious) and no one besides some goons and Isabel died. Maybe Det. Lance died. That was a bit of a cliffhanger. But there was no Tommy. I was silently hoping we would lose Thea, because I think that would devastate Ollie the most. Instead we have a semi clean ending. It was still a great episode. On a side note, it was kinda weird that they threw in Lyla is pregnant during the episode, but I guess that may give Diggle some more material next season. Fingers crossed! Highlights:

I did not do weekly reviews on this show, because my schedule did not allow it. However, one week after the finale I think I can give a good review on the season as a whole. I must say this was way better than season 1. I liked season 1, but at times it felt a bit off to me. And while they were troubled by that this season, they did better at covering it up. Let's start on Norman's arc. I felt his was the best, as it should be. This kid has a problem. And he soon found out about his problem. I liked that he realized he was having issues and the fact that at the end of the season he started to remember what happened during his blackouts. But there is more to it, as we saw him descend into the madness that we know from the movies. That is the only problem I have had with Norman. At times it seemed his story was going too fast, but thinking about it seemed perfect. He still isn't dressing up like his mother, even though at times it he pretended he was her. This season left him at a very interesting place. As for Norma she got a bit tiring at times. She was always complaining about something, right or wrong. And that whole side story about her and George's relationship was poorly handled. It seemed like they just wanted to give her something more to do than be a mother. Still she had some great moments this season. She truly cares about Norman and thinks she is protecting him, which is sweet. She will do absolutely anything to protect her child , no matter what, and that was shown excellently this season. Dylan also had an interesting story. It was nice to see him and Norman have arguments, if only to show how messed up Norman is. I loved that he found out who is dad is, even though he didn't stay around. I also like that now he is in a power position at his job. I did feel one of his motives was weak, and it only bothers me because it was such a big deal. I hated that he forgave Norma for keeping his dad from him, and than forgave her because she bought him a plane ticket to go with her and Norman. That just felt a bit weak. I thought the inclusion of Sheriff Romero was smart. He is a good character and I liked him a lot because I never really could tell if he is a good or bad guy. I like the little romance/companionship that was going on between him and Norma at the end of the season. Hopefully they continue that story into season 3. The character done the most injustice this season was Emma. She was reduced to a sex-craving teenage for about 2 or 3 episodes during the season and it just felt so out of character. I also hated how they essentially tried to write her out of the story only to bring her right back in. She shouldn't have been written out at all, because she is essentially the heart of this show. She is the truly human character in a show featuring a bunch of caricatures. I hope they fix her next season. The overarching story of the season was pretty good. It was basically Norman's departure from being a mother's boy. I think they handled it well, and again they hinted at the future with that kiss between Norma and Norman at the end of the season. That wasn't a mother/son kiss. I liked the position it left all the characters in at the end of the season. Dylan doesn't have to worry about Nick Ford (who was an underwritten character), but might have to worry about his group of people. Norma has to struggle with Norman distancing himself from her and Norman is still slipping into madness. Emma was also hinted at staying at the motel. Romero will most likely still be at the motel when season 3 rolls around, which can led to a furthering of relationship with Norma. The only thing I really hated about this season was the setting around the aftermath of Ms. Watson's death. It was too big in the season for me. I hated Norman's infatuation with her. I know it set a lot of the events in motion for this season, but I just felt they should've moved on around episode 5. Overall, this was a very good season. This season, in all its campy goodness, has launched this show to number 2 (sorry 'The Walking Dead') on my favorites list. I hope the can fix what they did wrong this season, while further showing Norman's descent into madness.

I am very mixed on 'Gotham' right now. It looks decent, but cheesy. However this video helped get me a bit more excited for the show. Check it out! Normally I don't post anything about upcoming episodes, but at the end of this clip is a little snippet of 'The Flash'. The CGI looks pretty darn good for a TV show, and that is an absolutely killer logo!
Well I must say this show has me intrigued now. I will most definitely tune in on Fridays when this show is on.
PS. I am still not okay with NBC cancelling 'Community', but I can't ignore a good show, even though NBC will cancel it. I will start off by saying that this will only be shows we follow here.
Renewed List: New Girl Brooklyn Nine-Nine Bates Motel Arrow The Walking Dead Agents of SHIELD The Blacklist New Shows: Gotham Constantine The Flash Agent Carter Finally confirmed yesterday was that this season of 'Parks and Recreation' is set to be its last and will only be 13 episodes. Also intriguing is that it will premiere mid-season with an unknown day, due to 'The Blacklist' taking over on Thursdays. 'Gotham' will appear on Mondays at 8. That is an interesting bit, because it seems to lend creedence to the show only being 13 episodes a season. That spot is usually occupied mid-season by 'The Following' so expect only about 13 episodes. The most interesting bit of news is 'Brooklyn Nine-Nine' and its new spot. The show has been moved to Sunday! Why Sunday? I have no clue, but that doesn't seem like great news to me. 'Agent Carter' is also expected to replace 'Agents of SHIELD' when it goes on winter break. |
