Spoilers Ahead:
Tonight's episode didn't progress the story. Plus it had the return of Robin's sister, Lucy Hale.
The Basics:
Robin doesn't seem to be having any problems during wedding day, which bothers Lily. Meanwhile Ted and Barney tried to pick out the perfect suit for Barney.
The Analysis:
There were a few scenes with Ted and the Mother. And as usual those scenes are the highlights of the episode. Ted told the Mother a story about how Robin broke the lamp on the wedding day. We then cut to Robin and her sister, Lucy Hale, playing hockey with not a care in the world. This bothers Lily, who I guess believes the bride should have a problem on her wedding day. It finally boils over when Robin decides to watch 'The Wedding Bride Too' (yes there's a sequel to The Wedding Bride, the story of Ted and Stella realized on the big screen) in her hotel room. This just was not very good. I don't understand why Lily was so upset with Robin. She should've been happy that Robin was at peace with everything, but instead she decided to make a problem herself, in the form of her wearing her wedding dress at the wedding. There was a resolution to this story, but I'll get back to that. The Ted and Barney story was pretty pointless. The only real thing we got from this was Barney becoming 100% comfortable with getting married. The best part was when Barney and Ted went back to the hangout with the group for a couple of minutes. The realized this was gonna be the last time the would be together for who knows how long, and that served as the resolution to Robin and Lily's story. Seeing the group in the room together was kinda bittersweet as this is really one of the last times we will see them on the screen together. And the end of the episode, Robin's mom surprises Robin by arriving at the inn. I didn't understand this move at all. It just didn't make sense.
The Takeaways:
It seems like they are ending the series with a fizzle instead of a bang. They have spent the majority of the season exploring small problems instead of tying up loose ends. Then they decide to throw another problem in with only 3 episodes left. I just don't understand what they are trying to achieve. I still reserve hope that the finale will make everything forgiven, but I'm not so sure it will.
