SPOILERS AHEAD
The Basics:
Jake is at risk of getting suspended, or worse. Boyle deals with a breakup.
The Analysis:
Man, I can't believe it has been a full season of this show. This was the best of episode of the show story wise. It cleared up the majority of the stories from this season and left a few threads dangling for next season.
Jake feels a politician is partaking in illegal activities. The Commissioner steps on and tells Peralta to lay off of him, but Peralta gets caught watching the politician again and is on the verge of getting suspended. The Captain and Santiago help him out. I loved this very much, because we got to see two characters known for order and following the rules go against their values. I really enjoyed the Captain, because he just did his own thing. Some bits include his flirting skills ("The ladies want what they can't have") and his impeccable dancing skills. He did his own thing this week and it was quite funny. We even got a thrift store montage that was hilarious. The episode even threw in some character growth for Jake. He trusted the Captain, when the Captain told him to get fired. This happened because of a larger investigation going. This led to Jake getting a job with the FBI. When he was leaving the police station, Peralta finally admitted his feelings for Santiago to her. This is really the only bit I have a problem with as we only got to see her initial reaction, but I guess the fallout will be dealt with in Season 2.
As for Boyle, his inevitable breakup with Evelyn happened, and he has decided to go full on Matrix mode. This did open a door for Rosa to be a good friend for Boyle, and while nothing she and Terry did really helped, it was nice to see her and Boyle's friendship. Obviously, the only thing that worked was drinking their problems away, where Rosa admitted to Boyle that she has never dated someone like him, which is why she doesn't do relationships well. This seemed to hint at a potential relationship between Boyle and Rosa that will probably be explored. I'm curious to see how that goes. Although, there might be a problem with Boyle waking up with Gina the next morning.
It was a great finale for Brooklyn Nine-Nine. They wrapped up some stories, while giving way to some interesting roads to explore next season.
