![]() The first Ant-Man trailer has finally arrived and the movie looks pretty good. It is obviously missing that Edgar Wright spunk and pizzazz, but it doesn't look terrible. What do you think?

After the departure of Roberto Orci, Paramount was left scrambling to find a new director. Paramount has announced that Justin Lin will take over as director of the franchise. It is certainly an interesting switch. They have also announced a new date for the film. It will now be released July 8, 2016. What do you think? According to Latino-Review, Viola Davis has won the role of Suicide Squad leader Amanda Waller. She won over Oprah and Octavia Spencer. The movie is looking good from the outside right now, with some excellent talent aboard. It will be interesting to see how this movie turns out. What do you think of this casting? If there was any doubt before, it should be gone now. FOX is moving in on a deal with Ryan Reynolds to get him to return as Deadpool. It is not too surprising, considering FOX needs to build some goodwill with their fans and it is really hard to imagine anyone besides Reynolds playing the character. The movie will be directed by Tim Miller, from a script by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. It's good to see FOX working to keep the same creative team behind this. What do you think of this? Source: Deadline After a few months of speculation, Marvel has confirmed that Benedict Cumberbatch will be our Doctor Strange. The movie, which will be directed by Scott Derrickson and written by Jon Spaihts, "will follow the story of neurosurgeon Doctor Stephen Strange who, after a horrific car accident, discovers the hidden world of magic and alternate dimensions." Cumberbatch is certainly seems like a good choice for the role. It will be fun to see him stand beside the heroes we all know and love right now. What do you think of this casting? The Suicide Squad movie is my most anticipated movie on DC's slate, and that was before the cast was announced. Now that Warner Bros has announced that Will Smith is going to play Deadshot, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, Tom Hardy is Rick Flagg, Cara Delevingne is Enchantress, Jared Leto as The Joker, and Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, I am ecstatic. That is a fantastic cast, minus Jai Courtney. This movie will have to try hard to be bad with the talent on board. Perhaps the biggest piece is that Jared Leto will be our next Joker. If there is anyone I feel that can do the character any justice after the iconic take by Heath Ledger, it is Jared Leto. For one, he looks the part. And two, he is a fantastic actor. I am really excited to see how he plays off the first on-screen iteration of Harley Quinn, once again perfectly cast. Harley will be played by the lovely Margot Robbie, who after her part in The Wolf of Wall Street, has me convinced that she is best suited for the role. Will Smith as Deadshot is certainly an interesting route to take with the character. And Tom Hardy will be great to see in another superhero movie. After all the flack that Warner Bros has received for its other casting choices, it has really made up for that with this fantastic cast. I have to admire that WB is going after people that can really act, too, rather than cast largely unknowns (I will put a TBD for Gal Gadot, Ray Fisher, and Jason Momoa in their respective roles). Other news regarding the movie is Jesse Eisenberg is still circling bring Lex Luthor to the film. WB is also said to still be looking for Amanda Waller. Viola Davis, Octavia Spencer, and Oprah Winfrey are said to all be up for the part. I feel anyone of them could do a great job at bringing the character to life, although I would love to see it be Viola Davis. One last bit is that the movie will supposedly start filming in Toronto around February. The working title will be "Bravo 14". What do you think of these castings? I'd say Warner Bros has done a darn good job. The fan favorite casting for Harley Quinn, Margot Robbie, has apparently agreed to a contract with WB/DC to play the character in the upcoming Suicide Squad. This confirmation has come from Collider, who has heard it from a few sources. If it is officially, then we will probably hear about it in a few days. I personally am hoping this is true, because I feel she could be amazing in the role. What do you think? After apparently missing out on Doctor Strange, Jared Leto now has his eyes set on another iconic comic book character. According to The Wrap, Leto is currently looking at playing The Joker in David Ayer's Suicide Squad. The Wrap also said that this was the role Ryan Gosling was up for, but he didn't sign due to an willingness to have a multi-picture contract. The original script is said to not have featured The Joker, but Ayer is rewriting it to feature The Clown Prince of Crime. Tom Hardy, Will Smith, and Margot Robbie are also still in talks to star. The Hollywood Reporter also had some interesting quotes from Leto himself. "I do [have my eye on one project.] I am excited about what's happening," he told The Hollywood Reporter. "There are incredible opportunities and I'm very grateful for them. I'm looking forward to making films again now that the tour is wrapping up. It's going to be an exciting 2015." He didn't drop any details about the project, but that is expected. "I've sworn to keep my mouth shut but I think that very shortly there will be something to talk about, that's for sure." The actor clearly didn't say much, but he obviously has a big project that he is excited for. What do you think of Leto as The Joker? Above is a potential first look at Corey Stoll as Yellowjacket in Ant-Man. It is a low quality version, obviously, and might be a fake. There isn't much to prove that it is real, although there isn't much to prove that it is a fake. I think it looks pretty slick if it is real. What do you think? Makingstarwars.net has some new rumors regarding Luke Skywalker in the next Star Wars movie. This rumor seems to build off previous rumors claiming that Luke will be in self-imposed exile. I’m told that in the back story for the film, Luke Skywalker does something amazing with the Force. He’s really powerful, more of “wizard than lightsaber wielding warrior.” Basically, Luke Skywalker has a “Force Unleashed” moment and realizes he might be bad for the universe. The aftermath of that event is difficult for Luke. Luke Skywalker has become the most powerful Jedi ever, but he doesn’t believe he’s the wisest. He doesn’t want to make the mistake his father made by thinking he knows what’s right for the universe. Skywalker becomes somewhat deranged in his seclusion. He is consumed by his fear that if he should return to “society” his power could be misused, he could be manipulated, and he may accidentally hurt the one’s he loves. For these reasons, to protect the galaxy and himself, Luke retreats into self-imposed exile for many years. I’m told he can’t always control the power. While he sits in a meditative state, he levitates things unconsciously and he’s not always in complete control and he’s never sure if he’s doing the will of the Force or acting on his own passions. Luke is seeing the past, the present, the future, “old friends long gone” and other things that prey upon his sanity. Luke Skywalker is described as “creepy and frightening in appearance” because you supposedly can see “the fire in his eyes” behind his grizzled appearance during some scenes. The website then goes onto state that Luke's evil appearance is more due to his current mental state, as opposed to him actually being evil. I really like everything this means for the movie. I like that Luke isn't strong enough to handle the pressure of ruling the universe and that that leads to the universe falling apart. What do you think of this? Star Wars: The Force Awakens is the new title of the next Star Wars adventure. Filming just wrapped a few weeks ago and post-production is underway. Word on the street is that a trailer is cut and ready for release, so be on the look-out for a teaser soon. What do you think of the new name? We have long been hearing about a Gambit movie with Channing Tatum attached as the lead. Last week, Deadline reported/confirmed that the movie is in production with Channing Tatum locked in and Robocop reboot writer Josh Zetumer set to write. Channing Tatum will produce through his production company. It will be interesting to see if he makes a debut in X-Men: Apocalypse. What do you think? Source: Deadline At a special event yesterday, Marvel announced their entire slate for Phase 3. There aren't too many surprises. We have been hearing about Doctor Strange, Captain Marvel, Black Panther, and Inhumans for a long time. It is great to have these movies finally confirmed. We also got official confirmation that Captain America 3 will be a foray into the Civil War story from the comics. A very awesome thing that Marvel is doing is working on the Civil War story, while also buildings towards the Infinity War story. The Infinity War movies have been strongly rumored to feature all the past heroes in Marvel movies. That would mean a movie with our current Avengers roster (which will change after Age of Ultron), the Guardians of the Galaxy, Ant-Man, the Inhumans, Captain Marvel, Doctor Strange, and Black Panther. That would be something truly amazing to see, and it would certainly be a huge task for whatever director/directors (Joe and Anthony Russo have been rumored to be studio favorites for the two-part event) to give each character/team a chance to shine. ![]() The most surprising aspect was the announcement of Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther. He has been a fan-favorite cast for years. We have been hearing about him potentially having the role for a little over a year now. It certainly looks like a good casting. He will play a huge role in Captain America: Civil War, before appearing in a solo film in 2017. I feel like he might take the role Spider-Man occupied in the comics for the movie. This is a great casting for Marvel. As for all the other movies, not much is known. Benedict Cumberbatch isn't officially Doctor Strange, yet. If he was, he would've been announced yesterday, but a deal must be closed to being signed if all the huge news outlets are picking it up. Guardians of the Galaxy 2 will allegedly have a new member to the team. Thor: Ragnarok has been rumored to set-up Infinity War. Feige called it the Captain America: The Winter Soldier of Phase 3. The rumor/theory going around is that it will feature Thanos coming to Asgard to retrieve the Infinity Gauntlet and Tessaract. It will then feature a battle between Thor and Thanos that will eventually turn into a battle between Odin and Thanos. Odin will fall and Thanos will destroy Asgard. That story definitely sounds interesting. And next to nothing is known about Captain Marvel and Inhumans, although Feige did say we should hear about a director and writer soon. Overall, Marvel will excited the fans. Everything from the announcements to concept art to teasers definitely looks great. The event was certainly a surprise and based off the reveals, Marvel has a huge plan for the future. What do you think of all this news and Marvel's future? ![]() Marvel surprised us yesterday with the announcement of their Phase 3 for movies. Perhaps the most shocking was the announcement of a 2 part Avengers event in 2018 and 2019. Below is the teaser Marvel showed for the movie. It doesn't show much, but it does confirm we will see the Avengers team take on Thanos. What do you think? ![]() Marketing is starting to gear up for The Avengers: Age of Ultron. After the trailer leaked and Marvel officially released it, Marvel announced that they would instead show a different clip during Agents of SHIELD. Below is the clip Marvel played at their press event yesterday, and below that is the one they played during Agents of SHIELD. They both look pretty good. What do you think? Marvel's phase 2 will end next year with Ant-Man. At an event today in California, Marvel announced there upcoming slate for Phase 3. Some of the smaller films are a third Thor adventure, and the long awaited Black Panther, Captain Marvel, and Inhumans. There were some other movies announced, but we will cover those in a different article. It is great to know that Marvel is branching out and working on a new team for The Avengers.
