![]() Christopher Nolan's next movie certainly looks confusing. The new trailer for 'Interstellar' just dropped today. I can say I have barely any idea of what is going on. It looks interesting, though. And knowing Nolan, I would say this will definitely be an entertaining movie. The trailer is below.

We thought Marvel would come out and really take the cake this year after a disappointing showing by DC. However, Marvel was a bit disappointing, too. They focused on 2015 and nothing else besides a brief nod to an excursion in 2017. Ignored was the Phase 3 films, Doctor Strange (especially considering the recent rumors of Joaquin Phoenix snagging the role), and casting for any other films. We got info on 'Ant-Man' and 'The Avengers: Age of Ultron'. ![]() 'Ant-Man': Paul Rudd, Peyton Reed, Michael Douglas, Corey Stoll, and Evangeline Lilly were all present. Apparently the movie will revolve around a heist. It also seems like Douglas' Pym wants to retire and has chosen Lang as a mentee. Meanwhile, Corey Stoll was confirmed for the role of Darren Cross/Yellowjacket. What is interesting is that Cross and Pym were business partners until Cross took control and started running the company in a way that seemed evil. Evangeline Lilly was confirmed for the role of Hope Van Dyne, a.k.a. the daughter of Jane Van Dyne (who was most likely The Wasp with Pym and will hand the role off to Hope), which goes against the rumors that had her linked to the role of Jane Van Dyne. The movie will start filming August 18th in Atlanta, but they filmed something just for Comic-Con. The footage is as such: "Voiceover of Pym telling Lang he needs him for a job, which plays over a one-take shot through a dark lab... the camera settling on the helmet to Ant-Man's suit for an instant -- and then, in a flash of blue, the helmet shrinks. The next scene shows (an all CG) Ant-Man running through what seems like a computer grid of sorts, as Pym talks to him over a headset telling him how to summon a flying ant to help him make a getaway. Lang struggles to summon the ant to his will, because one of the transmitters in his helmet is busted and visibly sparking. He smacks the side of his helmet with an open palm but that just makes it worse. Pym instructs Lang to just jump over a ledge to get out of the area and Lang does it... About to fall to his death when the flying ant catches him and takes him soaring out of an air vent, which leads back to some kind of mainframe. (The scene shown is what was depicted on the Comic-Con exclusive poster revealed earlier this week at the convention.) Lang jumps on a flying ant and flies out of an air vent. End of clip." Ant-Man will hit theaters July 17, 2015. ![]() 'The Avengers: Age of Ultron': This was a fairly straight-forward panel. They had a Q-and-A and then had a trailer play. It sounded pretty epic. They also said the trailer won't be online officially anytime soon, but I will post a leak as soon as it is available. The footage description from "The trailer opens with all the Avengers partying at Stark Tower, now Avengers Tower and Thor throws down his hammer on the table and asks if any of the Avengers can pick t up. So what do they do…? They try and pick it up. Tony and Rhodey try on their Iron Man hands and that doesn’t work… Banner pretends to Hulk out but he doesn’t and he too can’t pick up the hammer. But Cap, Cap get’s it slightly off the table when suddenly, a horrible buzzing takes the scene. All the Avengers cover their ears and look, off in the distance – a raged, beaten up and once destroyed Iron Man suit is lumbering at them. Very weird. Very freaky. It’s Ultron. “You humans think you are so special. You are nothing but killers! And I will take you down.” Blamo! Ultron sends hundreds of remote powered Iron Man suits at our heroes as we cut to the major action. Scene by scene of the most epic action we’ve seen so far this Comic Con, mind you The world is going crazy because of Ultorn – all the Avengers are struggling to survive and it doesn’t look good for our heroes when suddenly, blamo again! The Hulk Buster suit fully formed and realized takes on Hulk. Hulk Buster throws a car at Hulk (who is mighty pissed for some reason) and Hulk just SMASHES the car into pieces. After, a major roar from Hulk as we CUT TO: More shots of the world – Humans in peril. A Hydra tank is taken out by Thor! (Hydra is in it???!!!) And then, at the end of the trailer, Ultron turns to the camera… “You are all puppets on strings. But I… I have no strings.” Blamo: Title treatment: AVENGERS AGE OF ULTRON. And after, we slowly reveal a desolate wasteland. We see Thor’s hand reaching for his hammer; Tony Stark trying to move in his ripped apart Iron Man suit; Cap’s shield is broken in half. The team is down… And as we pull back we see that all the Avengers are trapped on some weird wasteland surrounded by stars." Sounds pretty exciting. I definitely cannot wait to see this. Surprises:
![]() After a few hours of waiting, the 'Batman v Superman' teaser that was shown in Hall H today has found its way online. It is pretty epic and while the quality is bad, the you see enough to know that it is awesome. I'll post a higher quality version as soon as it becomes available. Update: Here's a new one. Skip to about 15 seconds to get past the dumb intro. While there is no word on footage (we are actively searching and will get you something asap), we do have this picture which seems to showcase some of the Batman armor. It looks pretty epic. Stay tuned for Marvel coverage tonight. And keep an eye on the DC Entertainment panel tonight, too. Especially with Stephen Amell moderating and claiming he will win Comic-Con. The 'Arrow' trailer was pretty epic, but that is not Comic-Con winning stuff. Maybe DC has a few surprises up their sleeve.
It was quick, but the 'Batman vs Superman' panel surely blew the mind of many of the fans. There was a brief teaser and the first look at Wonder Woman. The footage description is "Ben Affleck as Batman and he turns on the Bat signal. Blocking the light is none other than Henry Cavill as Superman, as he flies in the Bat signal’s light and both reveal that they’re angry. Batman’s eyes are glowing during this part of the clip and when Superman sees that, he makes his eyes glow red. " What's interesting is that Batfleck is reportedly wearing an armored version of the Batman costume. Pretty exciting stuff. This looks great. It doesn't seem to comic-booky, but it also seems really close. Gadot still seems a little tiny, but the costume does seem to fill in a lot. This definitely looks awesome. It is worth mentioning that the Trinity were there in person, but didn't speak. I'd keep my eye on this presentation. I feel like they will go with a big DC ending.
With Marvel's Comic-Con panel right around the corner, Marvel has finished its promo poster/s for 'The Avengers' sequel. It definitely looks pretty slick and seems to draw inspiration from a climatic battle. What do you think of the poster?
Assuming the first movie does well, James Gunn will be back to direct the sequel to 'Guardians of the Galaxy'. It was also reported that he would write the film. The source is fairly reliable, too. Nicole Perlman, who wrote the first film, said all of this. Of course, this could all be wiped off the table if the first movie doesn't do as well as Marvel hopes. Still with overwhelmingly positive reviews and a strong opening prediction, this movie will most likely make Marvel a little extra pocket change. I'm glad James Gunn will be back considering this is his baby.
I don't watch 'Game of Thrones' so I do not know if Maisie Williams is a good fit for Ellie. However, all that matters is the product being put on screen. I also have doubts about that with Bruce Campbell being rumored for a role. If he gets the role of 'Joel', I will probably not see this movie. It seems like the gears are moving for 'The Last of Us' movie. It was also reported that the movie will have some new scenes written just for it. It is scheduled to hit theaters in 2016.
At the very least, we expected a picture. And while we have one, it doesn't answer anymore questions we have. In fact it brings up some new ones. Why does the cowl look lifted from the costume? And what is that blur to the right of Batman? It seems like this is Warner Bros first move at Comic-Con. The not to out there rumors are that Wonder Woman is on the right of Batman, while Superman is on the left. It seems like we will get a completed image sometime this weekend. At the end of the day, though, we have another picture of Batfleck, and he looks freaking awesome!
The Rock has thrown another wrench into the mystery of who he will be playing in the DC Cinematic Universe. It seemed like the other day he confirmed himself for Shazam, but this picture says it might not be that clear. Now with him doing somewhat of a back track and muddying the water, we have new questions. Will he play Shazam or Black Adam? Stay tuned for more on this story. I feel like we will know soon. Especially with The Rock having already appeared at Comic-Con this year.
This seems to confirm that the cape and cowl are seperate from the body piece in the upcoming 'Batman v Superman'. It isn't much, and it would be cooler if the rest of the costume was there or made an appearance later on this week, but it is something. Stay tuned for more Batman updates from Comic-Con. Thanks to the guys over at SuperHeroHype for these images. Source:
Comic-Con's preview night is tonight. That means that we are finally starting to get an idea of some of our favorite movies and see what they might be like. Today brought some interesting stuff. This concept art for 'The Avengers: Age of Ultron' and 'Ant-Man' join that group. I really like the Ant-Man costume art myself. It seems relatively close to what Edgar Wright had in his proof of concept video, which bodes well for the movie that has lost some faith. Still, there is set to be a huge influx of news in the coming days. Stay tuned for more from Comic-Con.
Sony isn't done with Spider-Man yet. After rumors swirling around that Sony was going to cancel this Spider-Man franchise at start new again, Sony announces that their 'Sinister Six' movie will be released on November 11, 2016. 'The Amazing Spider-Man 3' will supposedly follow in 2018. This is kind of a double-edged sword for us fans. On the one hand we get to see the Sinister Six on-screen, but on the other Marvel doesn't have the rights to Spidey. Still, it is good news to see Sony delay the next Spidey film after the lukewarm reception to both films in the reboot. Maybe now they will focus on making a proper Spider-Man film, instead of trying to build a universe. At the very least, the fans sent Sony a message that we prefer quality over quantity (a lesson you'd think they'd have learnt after the 'Spider-Man 3' incident). What do you think? Is Sony trying to hard to make this work? Or would you like to see them succeed?
It seems like every few months we hear something new about the long rumored 'Uncharted' movie. Of course the biggest news was that Marky Mark (Wahlberg) dropped out of the role of Nathan Drake. That has really set production on the movie back. But the current director, Seth Gordon (no not that Seth Gordon), has been very optimistic since he has been attached. He was even quoted a couple of weeks ago as saying that the movie would begin filming as soon as early 2015. It seems like that date was correct, because Sony/Columbia Pictures has set June 10, 2016 as the release date for the film. This also brings to light whether or not they have a cast yet. With production so close, it is not out of the question for the film to have a Nathan Drake cast. Maybe even someone that could pop-up at Comic-Con. Sony doesn't have a panel for them to officially present something, but maybe someone could pop up somewhere along the way. Keep on eye on this.
Anyone following production on the next Pirates adventure knows that the road has been rocky. Whether it be Bruckheimer's involvement to the movie not having an official green-light, this movie has kept us on our toes. The last big announcement was the directors, Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg, that would be taking over for the film. Well now Disney has announced that the next Pirates film will be released on July 7, 2017. While there is no competition that weekend, there is the next Despicable Me coming out the week before and Fantastic Four 2 out the week after. Not to mention, movie-goer pockets wil be empty after seeing The Lego Movie 2, The Wolverine 3, and 3 Marvel films during the year. Still, if you are a Pirates fan, you should be excited that production seems to be moving forward.
The critically acclaimed 'X-Men: Days of Future Past' will be available on Digital Download on September 23 and on Blu-Ray/DVD on October 14. So far there hasn't been much word on the Director/Extended Cut of the film. Even though the bonus features have been released, there is still hope that they will announce an Extended Cut before October. Still, the bonus features contain a lot of exciting stuff, such as the making of the Kitchen Sequence and the deleted Rogue scenes. Special Features:
Disc 1: Theatrical Feature (Blu-ray 3D) Disc 2:Theatrical Feature (Blu-ray 2D) Deleted Scenes [with Optional Audio Commentary by Bryan Singer] Kitchen Sequence Gag Reel Double Take: Xavier & Magneto X-Men: Reunited Classification: M Sentinels: For a Secure Future Gallery: Trask Industries Theatrical Trailers Second Screen App Digital HD It has been known for a while that "The Rock" will appear in a DC movie sometime soon. The internet has been going crazy over his possible role. Everyone from Green Lantern to Lobo has been brought up. In the video below "The Rock" said that he will be playing a character that can go toe-to-toe with Superman and that the character will be announced very soon. It sounds like he may be playing Shazam in a future film. This seemingly confirms that DC will have some sort of movie presence at Comic-Con this year. Definitely keep on eye on this. |
