Captain America: Civil War was announced at Marvel's press event today. The movie will star Chris Evans and Tony Stark. It is said that instead of focusing on secret identities, it will instead focus on who the superheroes are supposed to answer to. Perhaps the biggest news to come from this is that Black Panther will join the film. What do you think of this news?

At Marvel's press event today, they announced that there will be a 2-part Avengers film that will hit in 2018 and 2019. The most shocking aspect is that it will follow the Infinity War/Gauntlet story that we all thought it originally would. The two-part event seems to hint at one big film starring all of the characters in the previous Marvel films, including the new Inhumans, Captain Marvel, and Guardians of the Galaxy. This film will follow the expanded Avengers team as they fight Thanos after he retrieves all the Infinity Gems. This will certainly be one of the biggest movie events in the coming years, and I am really curious to see how they will give every single character (We are talking about 12+ characters on the Avengers, not to mention the villain/s) a chance to shine. Below are some pictures of Thanos with the Infinity Gauntlet. The most interesting comment from Feige is that this is what Marvel has been building towards since they first started the MCU. How do you feel about this route for Marvel? Chadwick Boseman is your Black Panther. Best known for his work on 42 and Get on Up, Boseman is an actor whose star is on the rise. He has been a fan favorite cast for years, and to hear him officially cast is great news. The best part is that we won't have to wait until the Black Panther solo film in 2017 to first meet him. He will appear in Captain America: Civil War before a solo outing. It has been speculated that he would take over the role Spider-Man played in the comics. It has also been reported that he has signed on for 5 movies. The other three movies he is likely to appear in (besides Captain America: Civil War and his solo film) are The Avengers: Infinity Wars Part One and Two and another Black Panther solo film. Below is some concept art of his costume. What do you think of this casting? Well I didn't expect this. Apparently Marvel is in final talks to appear as Doctor Strange in the upcoming Marvel film. Cumberbatch is a pretty well-known actor, most famous for his roles as Sherlock in Sherlock and Khan in Star Trek: Into Darkness. I would imagine they will sign him in time for him it to be announced at the press conference Marvel is having tomorrow. What do you think of this casting? Cara Delevingne, a relatively unknown commodity, is apparently being looked at by WB/DC to appear in Suicide Squad. The model/actress is probably about to see her star burst after people see her starring roles in Pan and The Face of an Angel, along with a possible appearance in Pirates of the Carribean 5. As of now, it is not known if she will be playing Harley Quinn. However, it you do a quick Google search, it certainly looks like she could play the part. And if you look at her Instagram, there is a picture that seemingly points at her being Harley Quinn. I wouldn't mind if she took the role. How about you? We have got some new rumors from Batman v Superman. There will be two Batsuits in the move. The one we have already seen and the one shown in the Comic-Con footage will both make an appearance. The armored Batsuit will be covered with Kryptonite and be able to shoot missiles. There will also be two Batmobiles in the film and maybe even a flying vehicle. The report from Batman-News also said Ben Affleck will appear shirtless, but it is "beautifully shot and shows Affleck overlooking a destroyed city (probably Metropolis?)." What do you think of this news? In an interview withBuzzfeed, Kevin Feige spoke about the future of the Avengers. There have been rumors of Cap starting a new team of Avengers at the end of Age of Ultron. Feige's comments seemingly confirmed something along these lines will happen. "The Avengers films, ideally, in the grand plan are always big, giant linchpins," the producer and studio boss told the site, adding: "It’s like as it was in publishing, when each of the characters would go on their own adventures and then occasionally team up for a big, 12-issue mega-event. Then they would go back into their own comics, and be changed from whatever that event was. I envision the same thing occurring after this movie, because the [Avengers] roster is altered by the finale of this film." If don't know what route the plan to take with this, but it seems to confirm that Cap will start his own team and that Tony Stark will take himself out of the group due to him creating Ultron. It could also be the cracks starting to form for Civil War. It will definitely be cool to see how they handle these different teams of Avengers and how they can make each one of these new characters a star. What do you think? Batman v Superman is currently filming in Michigan, and the production team is currently building a tomb that says Wayne on it. This seems to show that the Wayne tomb will appear in the film, and it has been hinted that it might be used for Bruce to visit or to show a flashback to Thomas and Martha Wayne's funeral. It is certainly an interesting addition to an already interesting movie. I can't wait to see how they utilize it. What do you think? It was only a matter of time before Guardians of the Galaxy became the number one grossing comic book movie of 2014. Thanks to a huge opening and overall box office in China ($84.4 million), the movie has now topped X-Men: Days of Future Past as the top grossing comic book movie of 2014. The movie now sits at $753 million worldwide. It is now only behind Maleficent and Transformers: Age of Extinction. What do you think of this news? Phil Lord and Chris Miller are two very busy and popular men in Hollywood. They directed the highly successful The Lego Movie, which quickly got a sequel green-lit. However, due to their busy schedule, Lord and Miller aren't able to direct. But when Warner Bros announced their future plans for movies, The Lego Movie 2 was replaced by the Batman focused spin-off. This move gave Miller and Lord enough time to write the script for the sequel. They aren't expected to direct right now, but it is said that they are being chased to direct. The fact that they will write the sequel is definitely good news. What do you think of this news? Jesse Eisenberg was a surprise casting as Lex Luthor, just as a Suicide Squad movie was a surprise. Many have said that the Suicide Squad movie would be the hardest to connect to the movie universe. Apparently WB/DC is trying to alleviate that problem by having Eisenberg join Suicide Squad as Lex Luthor. We don't know if Eisenberg will take the role (he has a bunch of other movies lined up) and if he doe take the role, how big it will be. How do you feel about Eisenberg joining Suicide Squad? Batman v Superman is still filming. We haven't been hearing much on the news front from the movie, though. The other day Batman-on-Film reported that the trailer was done and being prepped for theaters. It is from Batman-on-Film, so I would take the news with a huge grain of salt. But if they are right, the trailer will be very Batman-centric. Here is what their original report. "According to a few of BOF’s BvS insiders, the first teaser trailer for the film is complete and ready to go. The overt hint I got from these folks is that the teaser will be revealed this Fall along with a November or December film release (and online, of course). I have no idea to which specific film it may be “attached,” but New Line’s (which is Warner Bros.’ sister company) THE HOBBIT: THE BATTLE OF THE FIVE ARMIES is being released on December 17, 2014.By the way Batman fans, I’ve heard that this teaser is “Batman heavy.” What do you think? Adam McKay, of Step Brothers and Anchorman fame, is currently in discussions with Marvel to take on one of their characters. With Doctor Strange, Captain America 3, Guardians of the Galaxy 2, and the next 2 Avengers movies supposedly set with directors, we really have no clue where McKay might fit in. Rumored Marvel movies include Black Panther and Captain Marvel so it could possibly be one of those. Here is what McKay had to say on the subject, "I just did a big rewrite on Ant-Man with Paul Rudd and had such a great time working with [Marvel] that we’re kicking around ideas. But yeah, maybe I would take on one of the characters so we haven’t locked in anything, but discussions are definitely going on." How would you feel about McKay directing a Marvel film? ![]() Even though it was supposed to air during Agents of SHIELD next week, Marvel has officially released the first full trailer for The Avengers: Age of Ultron. This comes following a leak of the trailer. There is no word on what will take the place of the trailer in next week's episode. We will keep you updated on this. What did you think of that EPIC trailer? Guardians of the Galaxy is the surprise hit of the summer. We all had some high expectations for it, but I don't think any of us thought the movie would be this successful. The movie is now Marvel's third highest grossing movie with $733 million. It is only behind Iron Man 3 and The Avengers. It is good to see a "risky" movie like this be so successful. It only goes to show what you can do with a decent script and talented crew. What do you think of this news? Horror icon James Wan is apparently being courted by WB/DC to make a superhero movie for them. It is possible that the film could be Shazam! or it could be Wonder Woman. New Line CCO hinted at the possibility in this statement. "New Line has always been a big believer in great filmmakers emerging from the horror genre, and he has the potential to grow like Frank Darabont did, from writing A Nightmare On Elm Street 3 to writing and directing The Shawshank Redemption. James will make an important movie for New Line and Warner Bros or DC, and that is definitely part of the plan, and a reason for bringing him into the family. He’s the only overall director with a deal here, because we see him as a class of one." What do you think he might direct? Following last night's announcement during Agents of SHIELD that we would be seeing The Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer next week during the show, we have started to see leaks from the trailer and the saw the trailer itself leak. Above is a screencap of Ultron and the Hulkbuster armor from the trailer. It is some great stuff, and the trailer was pretty darn good, too. Stay tuned for more information from this leak. Tom Hardy is a very popular man in the comic book movie world right now. He is said to currently be courting offers from Marvel to play Doctor Strange and WB/DC to play a role in Suicide Squad. Add Fox to the list, as they are currently chasing him for the title role of Apocalypse in X-Men: Apocalypse. We will keep you updated as we find out who he will play. Rumors of Jena Malone appearing in Batman v Superman have been running rampant ever since she was spotted on set. She has been strongly rumored to be playing Carrie Kelley, a version of Robin from the comics. It is now confirmed that she will appear in the film in an unknown capacity. We will keep you updated as we find out more. Yesterday, WB/DC announced a Suicide Squad movie. Quickly following that announcement, The Hollywood Reporter reported that WB/DC was courting Ryan Gosling, Margot Robbie, Will Smith, and Tom Hardy for the four leads in the film. Not much is known, but Harley Quinn isn't expected to appear. Robbie's name throws a wrench in that rumor, because she seems perfect for Harley. Now let's get back on track. Today, Deadline reported that Smith, Robbie, and Hardy are close to signing onto their prospective roles. It seems a bit quick for it to go from courting to pen-to-paper, but WB/DC could've already been close to signing these three when we first started hearing about the movie. Personally, I would love a team with these 3. What do you think? |
