We have been waiting ever since the announcement of the film to hear who would star in 'Star Wars Episode 7'. Yesterday, Lucasfilm/Disney surprised everyone by finally revealing the main cast.
Actors John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, and Max von Sydow will join the original stars of the saga, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Baker in the new film.
Director J.J. Abrams says, "We are so excited to finally share the cast of Star Wars: Episode VII. It is both thrilling and surreal to watch the beloved original cast and these brilliant new performers come together to bring this world to life, once again. We start shooting in a couple of weeks, and everyone is doing their best to make the fans proud."
This comes on the heels of the first table read for the film. As expected, there are many new, up and coming actors/actresses. The big surprise for us here is the addition of Andy Serkis. He seems to have his hands in many big film franchises nowadays, so he is a welcome addition to the cast. Also revealed is there is one more female lead to fill/reveal. One interesting bit arises from the casting reveal. A few weeks ago we reported that Adam Driver would be playing a villain similar to Darth Vader, so it is possible that that rumor is true. Stay tuned for more on this.
